2010 Budapest - Bamako Great
African Run
Starting January 2010, a team of three South Carleton alumni will
pilot a 1986 Toyota Landcruiser on a 20,000 km journey from Ottawa,
Canada to Budapest, Hungary, and then embark on a two week journey
as participants in the 2010 Budapest-Bamako Great African Run across
Western Europe and North Africa to Bamako, Mali. The Budapest-Bamako
is the world's largest trans-Saharan rally and the largest charity
rally in Africa.
Dany Bolduc, Craig Wilson, and
Chris Stone, all graduates of South Carleton, are
looking forward to the challenges and rewards of participating in
this grueling race. They plan to donate medical equipment, school
supplies and their truck at the end of the race for use a village
ambulance. A fourth graduate, Amedeo Melone, is
the team's webmaster.
South Carleton is proud to lend our support to the Sponsor a Rally
Truck Team by donating the proceeds of our Fall Dance to the cause.
Student Council is looking at other ways to help as well.
