Advanced Culinary Education (ACE)


Prepare yourself for an amazing, culinary experience and a wide variety of culinary careers.You will work and learn in a commercial kitchen, using industry standard equipment and gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. This program offers several industry certifications: Safe Food Handlers, Customer Service, WHIMIS, First Aid/CPR and Smart Serve. Students will also participate in a Dual Credit Program with Algonquin College, as well as, receive ICE training (Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship).

Baking and Culinary Arts**


The Hospitality SHSM at Ottawa Technical Secondary School focuses on both the Culinary Arts and Professional Baking. Students will acquire hands-on experience in a commercial kitchen, preparing meals for the school cafeteria fully run by the SHSM Hospitality & Tourism program, catering and special events. Students will earn industry recognized certifications such as First Aid, WHMIS, Safe Food Handling, Service Excellence and others. Opportunities will be offered for experiential learning such as field trips, job shadowing, Dual credits at Algonquin College as well as inviting guest speakers from the industry to share some of their knowledge and experience in this exciting and growing industry.

Food Preparation & Event Coordination
